I have been building a homemade wakeskate over the past few weeks. I suck at wakeskating so I don't know if it will be any good or not, but it will serve my basic wakeskating needs. I followed WWSA directions from wakeskating.com. It really hasn't been that difficult to make.
Here are some pics of where I am at. Also, this was is just a prototype that I made out of crappy wood because I knew it would be a learning experience and I could improve on the final product. Anyone know where to find 1/8 plywood in Chattanooga? Tn Plywood & Door is the only place I found it, and they only have luan and birch.

It is 39" long, 15" wide at the center, and 10.5" at the tails. It has 2.25" 3 stage rocker (probably what I would call a subtle 3 stage). I weighed it with a POS fish scale I have and it said about 6.5lbs. There is still wood to be removed, but then the epoxy will add some weight. When I am finished I will weight it with a better scale.

At one time I thought Home Depot had some 1/8" but it was luan. When I was ready to buy neither place had any hardwood plywood in 1/8". I will make the next one out of Birch which will be a better wood, and hopefully each ply will be birch rather than two birch veneers with crap in the middle.
I finished the sanding and routing yesterday. I routed the whole top edge with quarter round bit. Then I routed the bottom just through the middle with the quarter round bit. I tapered the rounding off toward the end where it is pretty much still at a 90 degree angle. I thought this might make it very forgiving for spin tricks, but still be able to edge. Not sure if I will do that to the birch one.
sethenol, you will have to check it out. I don't wakeskate much so I won't know if it is worth a d**n or not.
I'll try and post some pics of the edges.

great job so far, might try Walter-A-Wood Supply on Rossville Blvd. or Plymart in RockSpring, Ga. for your plywood. can you post up a link for the "make yer own wakeskate" article?

The Evil Monkey is Born. Here is the final product minus the tape. Definitely learned a lot on the first one, and look forward to improving the next one.

Is that whats on the wakesurfers? Add the adhessive and it would be more than it cost me to make the board. I would like to ride barefoot since I don't try anything too buckwild on the skate. I may just put some neoprene on the next one and if it doesn't hold up just put skate tape again.

I just moved into a house with a garage, so hopefully I can make another one this summer. I still have the jig so the rocker will be the same. That one came out a little too small so the next one will have more surface area. I am also going to change the way I did the concave. Also, the rounded edges I put on it made it super squirly. Since I don't really do anthing but cruise and ollie on a skate, it is way to loose for me.
Anyone is welcome to borrow it this summer if they dare, LOL.

Sorry I missed this question. I can't remember how long the board is, but it is a little short. The plywood is 1/8 inch. For the concave, the sides are 3 high and the ends are 4. The top sheet had that rectangle cut out of it basically adding another layer to the concave, but it made sanding the corners a pain. I can't remember how many whole sheets made up the board, I think it was 5.
I hope that answered your question.
